Brocster Fan Drive

Quick question. Remember back in July when I said I was going to make a shout-out video dedicated to the first 200 fans of Brocster? Well, I haven’t forgotten about that. I am actually going to begin working on that very soon. However, there is a little bit of a twist. The shout-out will now be extended to include all the newer fans of Brocster as well.

Here is your chance to get involved. If you have not done so yet, you need to become a fan of Brocster on Facebook by clicking this link, http://www.facebook.com/BrocsterFans and then click on the “Like” button. Once you have done that, you will be featured in the upcoming shout-out video. Believe me, you do not want to miss out on this! The shout-out video is set to debut on January 1, 2011 on the Brocster Comics YouTube channel. There is something else you need to subscribe to if you have not done so already!

Every person that becomes a fan of Brocster up until December 31, 2010 will receive a shout-out in the video! I may be painting myself into a corner with this one, but I think it will be fun to try and do. Now I just have to find a unique way to give each of my fans a shout-out in the video without making it lame. That right there may be difficult, but fun!

Copy and paste the link in your status, click on the “Suggest To Friends” link on the page, tell people about it, or do whatever else you think will help get the word out there. 2011 is going to be a big year for Brocster. I have a lot of interesting things in the works, from short films to books, this is going to be great!

My 2010 Thoughts

Okay everyone, I know it has been way too long since I have posted anything on this or any of my other blogs. It has been quite hectic for me these past few months. Well, not really, but I wanted to make it seem like I live an interesting life. The truth is, I don’t! My life is not even close to being interesting. Perhaps that is the reason why it is so difficult to write an interesting blog. I used the word interesting about three times too many, didn’t I. Make that four.

That being said, I think it is time I started doing something about that. There is only one person on this earth I can blame for my mundane existence, me! There was I time, not too long ago, where I really looked forward to sitting at my computer and typing about how awesome something was or how badly I was disappointed by another thing. However, doing that every day really kind of turned me against the idea of blogging.

After my successful attempt at blogging each day of 2009, I was down for the count. I had talked about everything I needed to talk about and a lot of other crap that no one cared to read about, myself included! It really felt like I was just going through the paces by the end of December, and that all the meaning behind the blog had been lost. That’s when I decided to expand.

The expansion idea was the biggest failure of my dot com life. Except of course for the three years in which Brocster Comics sat unchanged. I thought dividing the blog into several different topics would help drive in more readers, and keep the blog organized and professional. Instead it made me feel overwhelmed, and the blogs later fell victim to my lack of interest. Now in the place of one blog without direction, I had four without content. Talk about a huge waste of money and bandwidth!

Now as 2010 is reaching its end, and I am beginning to plan for 2011. There will be more details to follow in the days, weeks, and months to follow, but I promise, this blog network will not be left in internet limbo like it was for the majority of this year.

Blatant Self Promotion

I have been told by several people that I am the best there is at blatant self promotion. That may be quite true. However as of late, I have hit a bit of a wall. It’s all my fault! It has been several months since I have blogged and I am just now starting to miss it. The fact that I lead a boring life is contributing to the lack of content in the virtual world.

Even though I am not sure what it is at this moment in time, I would like to really promote the Brocster brand. The best tool I have come across so far is Facebook. There I have the official Brocster Fan Page. If you have a Facbook profile, I suggest you become a fan or “like” the page as the kids are saying these days. The page is very close to having 200 fans.

The challenge is to get to 200. To help in that I am going to offer a special shout out video to the first 200 fans. I am not sure how I am going to pull this off just yet, but it is going to be something a lot cooler than just sitting in front of my Mighty Muggs reading names off a sheet of paper. This is going to be totally awesome. At least I hope it is!

Paranormal Activity?

Let me just start off by saying, I am not one to believe in ghosts, but after last night, my opinion may have changed. It was about 10:30 PM last night. I was talking with my friend Chris on the cellphone about Grimm Fairy Tales and how sweet the comic book series is. Suddenly the power goes out in my house! No big deal, the power goes out all the time, right? This was different. First all the power went out. Then just the light in my bedroom turned back on, but the television and everything else remained powerless. The light that came on just started flashing on and off, and the ceiling fan started to spin very slowly.

Now that was weird enough to freak me out just a little bit, but the events of the evening were just starting to escalate. While all of this is going on, I am still on the phone narrating this all to Chris. As I am talking to him, my phone just shuts off! He says on his end of the line it just went straight to a busy signal, but not the typical dropped call silence.

Now I am thinking that some kind of E.M.P. went off in the area or something. The power going out, I can accept, but affecting a mobile device that does not require electricity? That is really bizarre. Still things continue to spiral out of control from there. By this time I had gotten my phone to turn back on, and I called Chris back. That is when I started hearing this high-pitched ring. The lights are still out at this point, and the noise is coming from downstairs. So I do what anybody would do, I go and investigate. This noise is actually coming from the microwave. It keeps starting and stopping rapidly causing the ringing sound. The plug gets pulled on the microwave, and thankfully it shuts off, so does my phone, again.

Now I am really starting to get worried! What could possibly be causing all of this to be happening? I get Chris back on the phone again to give him the update on the events that have unfolded. I am then standing in my living room when the doorbell rings. I am thinking it is one of my neighbors checking to see if we had power, but when I got to the door, nobody was there. Chris heard it through the phone too, so I am not crazy! When it rang, I was maybe five feet from the door. That is way too close for somebody to ring it and run.

Really freaked out, I return to the second floor of my house. Another light in a different room turns on. I try and turn that light off with the switch on the wall, but nothing happens. By this point, I wasn’t too surprised by anything. I just kept flipping the switch and it eventually turned off. Then about five minutes later the power was restored to my house.

Now to recap the events. The power goes out. The light in my room is the only thing to turn on and it flashes repeatedly. My cellphone turns off, twice! The microwave keeps starting and stopping in an infinite loop, the doorbell rings, and a light in another room refuses to turn off. I am not sure what could of caused these things, but it was nothing normal. Perhaps I was a witness to paranormal activity.

The Triumphant Return

For those of you expecting to find Brocster Comics, you need to update your links. Brocster Comics is located at http://www.brocstercomics.com. Please update your bookmarks. This site is called Brocster.com and it is completely different than that other site. Yes, Brocster.com is a part of the same blog network as Brocster Comics, but this site will have very little to do with comic books. This blog is all about me, and what I am up to these days.

Now that I have gotten all the formalities out of the way, let’s cut to the chase. About a month ago I promised that my blogs were going to stick to a certain theme. In order to do that, I had to do a little bit of an expansion. Now instead of one blog, that ended up being a jumbled mess of random posts, there will now be four separate blogs. Each of those blogs will be locked into a theme. The end result, not sure, but hopefully not four blogs that end up a jumbled mess.

So far there are three of the four blogs in the Brocster Blog Network up-and-running. They is One Per Case which deals mostly with toys, Brocster Comics which will slowly become a comic book themed blog again, and of course the one you are currently enjoying, Brocster.com. This is the one without a theme you could say. It is basically a recap of what is going on in my life. Apparently some people out there find that topic interesting. I am still trying to figure out why.

How was that for an introduction? Hopefully there will be frequent updates on this blog. I don’t really have that much of a life so it may be difficult to come up with interesting things to post here, but I am going to try! Eventually, notice I said “eventually,” I hope to return to the daily blog, and this is where those posts will most likely end up.
